Opened in 1963, The UK’s premier wildlife attraction is sure to delight families. Set in 60 acres of parkland and lakes, you can observe the Patagonian sea lions play, take a ride on the Madagascar Road train, lemur enclosure, daily animal feeding sessions and impressive falconry displays.

Colchester Zoo Fright Night

When it comes to Halloween, Colchester Zoo runs two different events to frighten people out.

Shriek Week events take place daily from October 21 to October 31 between 9.30 am and 5 pm, which are family-friendly Halloween-themed activities and attractions to enjoy.

Fright Nights take place only on selected days from 5.30 pm until 9.30 pm when the park is closed. Colchester Zoo Fright Nights offer hair-raising yells and fits of laughter as the scare factor is elevated on some attractions.

The Colchester Zoo is home to 180 species set in 60 acres of parkland and lakes!

Colchester Zoo Opening Times 2024

Colchester Zoo is a full day out the whole family can enjoy! You may need to visit twice to see everything!

Colchester Zoo opens every day from 9.30 am except Christmas Day. Closing times vary according to season.

Please note that the Zoo may close up to 30 minutes before the closing time stated depending on the level of trade.

The last admission to the zoo grounds is 1 hour before close.

Colchester Zoo is located at Maldon Road, Stanway, Colchester (CO3 OSL). Situated just south of Colchester and accessed from junction 26 of the main A12 and using the new Stanway Western Bypass.
